A number of supermarkets are currently involved in ‘vouchers for schools’ schemes. Olchfa is collecting, and any vouchers can be left in the relevant boxes in reception. Many thanks!

As the global Earth Hour was on a Saturday, the school eco-committee decided to organise an Olchfa Earth hour during lesson 5 on Friday 3rd April. Staff across the school are being encouraged to teach without electricity for that hour to draw awareness to the issues of climate change and energy use. A brilliant, staggering, huge sum of money was raised on March 13th for RED NOSE DAY… A big thank you to everyone who got shaved, waxed, remained silent, dressed up, supported Mr T hair styles, baked cakes and donated their cash…
On 18th March the following girls represented the school in a county netball tournament. They played very well indeed and were unlucky to loose to St. Joseph’s, the eventual winners of the area pool. The Olchfa team were runners-up.
Olchfa Eco-Committee were amoung a record breaking 83,000 young people around the UK who counted and recognised birds for the RSPB by taking part in the Big Schools Birdwatch. The most common bird around the school graounds was the Blackheaded Gull, but they did record 14 different species of birds. They are now in the process of designing bird feeders to encourage more birds to the school grounds ready for next years Big Schools Birdwatch!
