Mrs. Davey and her class had a fabulous morning at Swansea Community Farm! πŸŒΏπŸπŸ–πŸ¦—

The pupils enjoyed walking the goats, feeding the sheep, donkeys, and pigs, handling some of the smaller animals, grasshopper hunting, and helping to cut back the heath. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills, work as a team, and spend time outdoors.

A huge thank you to Swansea Community Farm for such a fun, engaging, and informative morning. We had an amazing time and can't wait to visit again! β˜€οΈ

  • Swansea Enterprise Challenge

    Published 15/07/26

A huge congratulations to Rhea Choudhary, Jess Hewes, Rosie Collins-Burns and Leah Morris, who represented Olchfa School at the Swansea Enterprise Challenge on Friday 19th June. Over the preceding weeks, the pupils worked incredibly hard to design and create a range of beautiful garden ornaments to sell at their market stall. Their creativity, teamwork and dedication certainly paid off, as their products proved extremely popular with the people of Swansea - the stall completely sold out! Throughout the project, the pupils developed a wide range of valuable skills, including enterprise, communication, problem-solving, teamwork and customer service. We are also delighted to share that they raised over £300, which will go towards rejuvenating Olchfa's Memorial Garden. Well done to everyone involved on such a fantastic achievement! #SwanseaEnterpriseChallenge #StudentSuccess #YoungEntrepreneurs #EnterpriseEducation 🌟

  • Update

    Published 24/06/26

    Dear parents and carers.

Thank you for your support as we dealt with the hot weather today. The conditions on site have been warm but by no means unbearable, with much of the learning taking place in air-conditioned rooms. However, the situation tomorrow is likely to put additional strain on our ability to run the site safely. This includes food storage and provision, staffing shortages and other factors.

I have therefore taken the decision to close the school site to most staff and learners tomorrow. The school will be open only to any Year 7 pupils whose families choose to send them in to school. This reflects our commitment to supporting colleagues in other areas such as the NHS, or other vital services, who might otherwise be unable to attend work.  Additionally, all pupils who would normally have additional support may attend by parental choice, regardless of their year group.  Pupils who attend school will work in the library, which is air-conditioned, and will be supervised by the Senior Leadership Team. A limited menu of food will be available. To avoid the worst of the heat, school will finish at 1.30 p.m. The NEAs and Maths mock examination scheduled for Year 10 pupils will be rearranged.

Normal lessons for all pupils will resume on Friday June 26th.

I understand the inconvenience that this may cause. Please accept that we are trying hard to balance the importance of staying open for learning as much as possible with the practical realities of keeping everybody safe. Your support would be much appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Yours faithfully

  • Update - 23.6.26

    Published 23/06/26

    Dear Parents and Carers

As you will be aware, Swansea is on the edge of the Red Weather Warning in place in England and Wales over the next few days. I would like to share with you some of the mitigations which the school will be putting in place:

    • Most pupils are already wearing PE kit as we move towards our new guidance for September. They may continue to do so for the rest of the academic year.
    • Pupils may wear hats and/or sunscreen at your discretion.
    • Pupils should ensure that they drink water and take toilet breaks, in line with UK government guidance.
    • The school day will not continue after 3.00 p.m.
    • Planned outdoor activity type excursions have been cancelled.
    • PE lesson activities will be planned so as to minimise prolonged exposure to direct heat and sunlight.
    • On Wednesday and Thursday only cold food will be available to reduce the heat from cooking hot meals.
    • Pupils should seek shade as much as possible during break and lunch.

We currently have no plans to close the school site. However, parents and carers should exercise their own judgement based on their own knowledge of their children, if they feel that their health and wellbeing may be compromised.

    Thank you.

    Yours faithfully

    Mr J Kennedy
